2020 Will See a Flurry of Celebrities and Youth Come to the Lord

The Lord is drawing lines in the sand and asking the Church which side of the line we will stand. It is a year in which the centrality of the Lordship of Jesus Christ will become the central issue the church faces. Even as the Church think’s its main issue is how it relates to challenges from culture, God is saying, “All of those issues are secondary to who do you say I am?” (Matthew 16:15).

I heard “Enough is enough!” in the Spirit. God is calling for a greater level of purity and a revulsion of perversity than ever before. The Lord is bringing exposure to things hidden in darkness. He is eradicating mixture from the Bride even as He offers a period of time for repentance and restoration.

There will be much rejoicing and great testimonies of the grace of God as we see many, even in leadership, repent and set free. Their testimonies will be a springboard of hope to many others. But there will be exposure for those that refuse as God will not be mocked from the pulpit (Galatians 6:7).

“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus…” (Acts 3:19-20).

At the same time as drawing lines, the Lord is breaking down walls between denominations and generations. Just as there is a generation of young people who do not see race and ethnicity in the way former generations did, so too, those young people will not see denominational lines in the same way and will operate outside of them. Older generations will have a choice to bless what God is doing or to stand in the way.

This same generation of young people will also be the generation that rises up against the perversity of the culture. They will become disenfranchised with the nihilism and futility of sections of the cultish climate change lobby and other minority interest groups and will instead see Jesus as the solution to the climate, to ubiquitous mental health problems and the false doctrines being pushed by other minority interest groups.

There will be a flurry celebrity conversions and a huge influx of young people into the Kingdom influenced by popular culture. But this window will be short. However, even when opposition comes it will fan the flames of revival fires. The ground swell of evangelism will start to come forth in 2020 and continue with teenagers and young adults. Christian teenagers will be suspended and even expelled from school for preaching the Gospel and standing for purity. But they will not be silenced. Their boldness will shock the older generations and act as a wakeup call to the established order within the Church. 

Even as the spirit of rebellion spoke through Greta Thunburg to rally a generation to a cause to draw them away from the Gospel, so too the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Truth, will speak through many others who will raise a clarion call to purity to eschew the constraints of a false freedom message. Young people and young adults will reject cheap imitations and candy floss Christianity. The false gospel of comfort will be utterly rejected and instead an exhilarating life of adventure and radical risk taking will burst forth.

For the Lord is restoring and amplifying the anointing He placed on the Clapham sect. It will come upon radical burning ones who will not stop until they see societal reformation in the spirit of Wilberforce: 2020 will be a year of reformation and deliverance. These young people will gather around the Great Commandment and the Great Commission, not around denominational boundaries. Denominationalism has already started to crumble and this will only increase in 2020. The Spirit of the Lord declares, “Buy oil! Don’t brand it.” But church as both family and ecclesia (governmental authority) will be increasingly important. The church will recognise her need to know how to nurture and govern.
